PUNKTUALS may be the most honest musical project to emerge from the Emerald City in decades. Made up of seasoned veterans who spent years on the road with a litany of popular Seattle bands, the group features D. Lee on guitar, Gator on vocals, Mickey Diablo on bass, Notorious J. Rock on guitar and backing vocals, and Criss Crash on drums. The mask-donning quintet met while convening for smoke breaks at their rehearsal facility, even though they were all performing with other bands at the time. They quickly realized they shared a twisted sense of humor and a mutual appetite for getting to the core of what makes rock ’n’ roll actually rock.

Inspired by bands like the Ramones, Bad Brains, the Melvins, and Mr. Bungle, PUNKTUALS arrived on the scene in 2025 with their hard-hitting debut LP, Better Never Than Late. The torrid rip of a record helped the band earn a reputation for delivering a return-to-form Seattle sound, rife with majestic riffs, a bone-jarring wall of noise, and anthemic choruses often fueled by brutally honest, droll lyricism. The five members also shared a mutual distaste for the ego-driven, bravado-charged musical acts that were once a driving force behind the Seattle music scene, leading them to wear masks and perform anonymously. In a city famous for its rock ’n’ roll frontmen, PUNKTUALS are the anti-brand - perhaps even the anti-band - as it pertains to the city’s storied past and renowned, but now somewhat tired and dated, musical archetypes.

Fast-forward to the present, and PUNKTUALS are poised to release their second full-length album, Hourly Rage, on October 9 through Friendo Records. In the year since the release of their debut, the band has established itself as one of the wildest and most raucous live acts in the Pacific Northwest, building a small but loyal following that cannot get enough of the group’s vicious sonic proficiency or whimsical takes on death, intoxication, terminal illness, employment, and the lack thereof. The band is also building a reputation for its relentless ambition to make every moment count while facing expiration. In the years since the grunge explosion of the 1990s, as mainstream charts have become dominated by pop, EDM, dancehall, hip-hop, and everything else under the sun, many people have asked the question: Is rock ’n’ roll dead? Regardless of the answer, PUNKTUALS are intent on fearlessly confronting it with their sophomore effort.

Hourly Rage was made for everyone who has ever punched a time card and clocked in for the lifelong work endeavor that is life. From Minor Threat and Hüsker Dü to more contemporary acts such as Battles, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and even Tenacious D, there is something on this album for every rock fan. It is a highly relatable compilation of self-reflection and self-amusement, especially tailored to delight the jaded, the disillusioned, and the most cynical among us. If ever there were a band destined to clock in for the ferryman’s shift in the afterlife, PUNKTUALS are it. Most importantly, if we are going to let a band hold our hands through the valley of darkness, and this is that band, we can at least be glad they have made the pending transaction entirely nonexclusive - and as humanly fun as possible. Just like death, there is little you can do to avoid the coming catharsis that is PUNKTUALS.

Currently, the band is gearing up for the release of its new album, with a short release tour to follow in fall 2026. Each of the band’s three singles will be accompanied by a self-produced music video, and the album will be available on vinyl, CD, and all major streaming platforms beginning October 9, 2026.‍ ‍
